ABOUT PHOEBE

Phoebe’s work focuses on the collision point between the chaotic and the deliberate.

 

A keen artist throughout her life, Phoebe took up painting during the first lockdown as a form of escapism and as a way to reconnect to her loved ones. 

 

At the start of this journey she made interpretations of her friends' favourite works as gifts. Taking learnings from this, and experimenting with the fine boundary between the literal and abstract, she then moved on to forming her own distinctive style.

 

Using acrylics as her medium due to its immediacy, she concentrates on colour, quickly building up layers and leaning into the playful interaction – both intentional and unintentional – between brush strokes as the work develops.
